This past Saturday, the SuperNURDs attended the FIRST Robtics Competition kickoff for our 2016 build season. The event was held at the ViaSat campus in Carlsbad and was attended by more than a dozen North County robotics teams. In the game reveal we were presented with Stronghold. It is based off on medieval time era. Teams will try to defend their castle while attempting to breach defenses and conquer the opposing castle. The game was introduced via worldwide Comcast NBC Universal by Dean Kamen, inventor of the Segway and founder of FIRST robotics.
After the kick-off, we headed up to Trade Tech High School where we joined 4 other teams such as Agency #3021, TopHat #4014, Liberty #4919, BluePrints #4486 and, Iron Kodiaks #5137 to discuss this year’s game. We begin by spliting off in to different groups to get a better understanding of the rules. Some students did not take part in the group discussion, they along with a few mentors began to design, cut, and assemble the complex field elements. We all are looking forward to the next 6 weeks of build season working almost every day after school and on Saturdays. During that time we will be designing and building a robot that we hope will be our ticket back to the World Championship. Go SuperNURDS!

Good luck to all FRC teams!
